JOB TITLE:  PLC Software Engineer, Controls Engineer

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

 

  • £48,000 – £55,000 per annum

COMPANY INFORMATION: My client is an Energy Solutions Provider who have come up with new innovative technology in the Renewable Energy sector. They are a rapidly expanding business who have undergone the start up phase of a new business and are now looking at the next stage of the company development with more key roles created as demand starts to ramp up further.

 

 

YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

 

  • HNC or HND qualified or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or another relevant subject.
  • Proven experience as a Controls Engineer or a related role, with a strong background in industrial automation and control systems design.
  • Proficiency in programming PLCs (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens) and familiarity with HMI/SCADA software.
  • Sound knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Ethernet/IP, and Profibus.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and control schematics.
  • Strategic thinking
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Capacity to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing technologies and industry trends.

 

 

ROLE INFORMATION:

 

Main purpose of job: To design, develop, implement, and maintain the software that controls industrial automation processes using PLC systems and create the logic and instructions that allow these automated systems to function efficiently and safely.

 

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

 

  • Develop and design control systems, including PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements and develop control strategies that align with production goals.
  • Program, test, and troubleshoot control systems to optimize performance and identify and resolve any issues or malfunctions.
  • Conduct thorough system integration and commissioning of control systems, ensuring seamless operation and adherence to safety regulations.
  • Implement and maintain documentation, including control schematics, functional specifications, and user manuals.
  • Provide technical support and training to operational teams to ensure smooth system operation and effective utilization of control systems.
  • Perform regular system maintenance, diagnostics, and updates to ensure continuous functionality and uptime.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of risk assessments and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all personnel.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, striving to optimize processes and enhance productivity.

Contributing to planning, retrospective, daily and ad hoc meetings as required
