Company Information:

My client a leading food manufacturing company who are looking to recruit a multi-skilled manufacturing  technicians to work on a 12 hour shift Rota. The company are part of a bigger group and have recently invested heavily on their site to improve performance and output.

You must have the following:

  • Must be prepared to work a rotating 12 hour shift pattern including Days and Nights
  • Past Experience working in a multi-skilled maintenance role, my client will look at those from either Mechanical or Electrical bias
  • Ideally have some form of electrical qualification and some basic PLC knowledge
  • A flexible attitude to undertake both electrical and mechanical faults
  • The ability to work in a small team and be happy to help coach setters and line techs on basic PPMs and changeovers
  • Must be a pro-active engineer who can spot faults before they occur and have a get it right first-time attitude
  • Ideally have worked in a Food or FMCG background
  • Must have a sound knowledge of Health and Safety with IOSH being advantageous
  • Key characteristics my client are looking for include resilience, courage, team work and accountability

Role Information:

Working as part of the Shift Manufacturing team, the Manufacturing Technician is instrumental in the day to day efficient operation of machinery and equipment in their area of responsibility. Being assigned to specific plant equipment, the Manufacturing Technician will analyse performance trends and lead Continuous Improvement activity to ensure optimum plant efficiency whether it be mechanical, electrical or programming the route cause of the issue. Their strong relationships with their Manufacturing colleagues in the area will ensure that operator equipment concerns are readily addressed and resolved ‘at the point of occurrence’.

The work will be a mix of reactive and pre planned maintenance as well as a setting up the line ready for new production runs. The mechanical work could be stripping down machines, faultfinding on hydraulics, pneumatics, chains and bearings.

Unlike other manufacturing technician roles this is a hands-on Engineering role and my client wants those who have factory maintenance experience. As part of the role, you will be expected to coach and develop setters and line techs to assist with set ups, PPMs and following SOPs in a safely and efficient manner.

The candidates could be working on a range of equipment including packaging machines, check weighers, inspection equipment, ovens, labellers, conveyors. The electrical work could be testing and fault finding, replacing contactors and sensors, PLC work, working on drives etc.
