SALARY AND BENEFITS:

Shift: Mon-Fri – 7-3

 

COMPANY INFORMATION

 

My client is a worldwide Chemical manufacturing firm who supply to a wide range of sectors across the world. The role will be working at a Top Tier Comah site based in Hull that has recently undergone significant investment and expansion over the last 12 months.

 

YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

 

  •  Apprentice trained or equivalent in Engineering
  • Have experience as a Mechanical Technician, Mechanical Maintenance or Mechanical Fitter
  • Ideally be NVQ level 3 or equivalent qualified ONC/HNC
  • Record of strong personal safety values and taking the lead in safety initiatives.
  • Strong teamwork skills and willingness to work at developing the overall team capability.
  • Previous experience of computerised maintenance management systems
  • Any previous Comah or Chemical experience would be ideal, but other sectors considered include Power, Heavy Manufacturing, Refineries Petro Chem, EFW, Biofuels, Oils, Process etc

 

 

ROLE INFORMATION:

 

 

As a Mechanical Technician you’ll expected to complete all tasks assigned to you by your supervisor safely, to the required quality and within the expected time. This covers the full range of investigation/troubleshooting, planned repair scopes, preventative and predictive maintenance, and the installation of new equipment.

 

Key accountabilities

  • Safety is paramount and you must stop the job if unsafe or you are unsure and seek the relevant safety guidance.
  • Carry out workplace safety and condition audits as required.
  • Carry out tasks as defined by your core trade of Mechanical Technician.
  • In addition to your core trade and where you have the required competence e.g. lifting and slinging, pipefitting you’ll have the opportunity to work more widely.
  • Some trades will be given specific dual trade training.
  • Assist in the punch-out and acceptance of work performed by other staff or contractors.
  • Develop competence and multi-discipline permit acceptance for more complex tasks, to achieve “building craftsman” status over time.
  • Maintain awareness of procedures, rules and regulations that apply to your discipline’s activities.
  • Carry out timely and accurate job reporting through SAP failure reporting, lessons learned and feedback to Production Engineers on any inaccurate Preventative Maintenance (PM) and master equipment data in the CMMS. (Computerised Maintenance Management System)
  • Initiate equipment registration requests for changes in equipment hardware and/or data resulting from maintenance activities.
  • Assist Maintenance Planners and Supervisors in the identification, specification and Purchase Requisition (PR) of spares necessary to carry out the job.
  • Raise requests through the line where a reactively purchases spare components needs to be considered for adding to the system for direct purchase or stores stock.
  • Responsible for accurate time writing of all worked hours against the Maintenance Order operations.
  • Continuously seek, suggest and deliver improvements to drive the overall productivity and quality of maintenance execution.
  • Facilitate the work of contractors and specialist technicians working on the site. Facilitate on-the-job training and guidance to less experienced apprentices, staff and contractors.
  • As part of a team, ensure call out cover and response to meet all out of hours maintenance requirements.
