JOB TITLE: Buyer / Category Buyer

 

COMMUTABLE FROM: Hull, Cottingham, Willerby, Hessle, Brough, Beverley, South Cave, Hedon, Keyingham, Barton upon Humber, Bishop Burton

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS:

 

  • £35,000-£40,500 depending on experience

COMPANY INFORMATION: My client is an Energy Solutions Provider who have developed and patented a new innovative technology in the Renewable Energy sector.

 

YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING:

 

  • 3 years relevant procurement experience in the engineering sector and a willingness to study for professional accreditation
  • Vendor Management and continuous Improvement experience
  • Good knowledge of Quality Management systems
  • Demonstrable Contract Negotiation experience
  • Tenacious and Resilient attitude
  • A true team player and a flexible approach to work
  • Vendor Management and continuous Improvement experience
  • Ideally CIPS qualified, but happy to put people through this

 

ROLE INFORMATION:

 

The successful candidate will be expected to manage the supply of goods and services from external suppliers on behalf of the business. The Category Buyer plays a crucial role in the procurement process, ensuring cost effective solutions and minimising risks in relation to availability and quality whilst ensuring that approved suppliers meet the expectations of the business policies. The role will be working in working in a close-knit team with the Supply Chain Mgr, Buyer, Purchasing Manager and Expeditor.

 

Responsibilities / Accountabilities:

 

  1. Own the category: Identify, evaluate and on-board suppliers in the nominated category that offer the best value to the company in terms of cost, capacity, capability, quality, service and compliance.
  2. Ensure that supply risks and mitigating actions are identified and pursued to an effective solution.
  3. Compile and manage RFQ’s alongside Technical and Operational colleagues to satisfy business-wide requirements including compliance and leveraging competitive tension in a timely and professional manner.
  4. Facilitate Technical and Commercial reviews and the Supplier approval process (including contractual agreements) ensuring necessary authorisations are captured.
  5. Process and expedite purchase orders in accordance with company guidelines to mitigate risks in cost, availability, quality and safety.
  6. Help in invoice clarification and dispute settlement as required.
  7. Plan the purchase of materials & services as and when required to meet the business schedule and to optimise inventory levels using appropriate Supply Chain models.
  8. Assist in the management of the Bill of Materials records and change process to ensure traceability in the Supply Chain, and materials flow into unit assembly. Maintain BOM records to enable efficient cost and budget management.
  9. Maintain the supplier relationship with regular review meetings to evaluate performance and continuous improvement opportunities.
  10. Advise and mentor non-Procurement personnel to promote an improved understanding of Supply Chain and Procurement protocols and process improvements.
  11. Ensure the storing of auditable records of all procurement documents observing Document Control protocols
  12. Assist with the development and administration of company procedures.
  13. Use and input to the development of management information systems to ensure the availability of valid and timely management reports.
